-Conducted in-depth interviews with 13 indigenous Guatemalan artisans to explore their experiences with health education workshops and income generating activities offered by local NGOs-Developed a model to explain the relationship between artisan work, income generation, and health-Presented findings at The George Washington University Research Day 2013

-Managed comprehensive health and social services for more than 40 patients diagnosed with HIV and comorbid conditions-Reengaged 7 patients previously lost to care-Monitored patient treatment adherence, identified patients at risk for non-adherence, and counseled patients on treatment adherence strategies-Conducted research for the Ryan White Part B HIV Care Program Grant and co-edited the final submission, resulting in continued funding of all HIV services at the clinic-Collected data on patient treatment progress and prepared corresponding quarterly reports for the Medical Management Program -Conducted outreach activities in low-resource areas with the mobile clinic, including the distribution of condoms and HIV testing-Provided patient education on themes including healthy living, mental health, sexual health, and self-care-Actively participated in monthly meetings with the regional Case Management Operating Committee (CMOC)-Developed a new website to engage new patients and donors with the organization

-Piloted a new position and facilitated the creation of more than 200 new community-based matches-Played a key role in the agency making its annual goal of children served for the first time in four years (2146 children served for the fiscal year 2010-2011)-Actively participated in reforming aspects of the matching process, resulting in a more comprehensive and reliable assessment of children and volunteers-Volunteered at agency match events and assisted with event planning, set-up of equipment, registration, and participant coordination-Developed a new method to track areas of high-need in the community in order to better focus recruitment efforts-Regularly conducted new volunteer orientations, match meetings, and client interviews-Assessed volunteers for their suitability for the program and wrote detailed assessments of new clients-Provided bilingual services when needed

-Obtained and managed a $2,000 USAID sponsored grant to improve the health behaviors of two rural communities through the construction of improved cook stoves, latrines, organic gardens, and small animal corrals-Successfully executed a “healthy homes” project with a group of 43 rural families, improving by over 50% the number of families regularly washing their hands, eating balanced meals, drinking safe water, and maintaining a clean, smoke-free kitchen-Coordinated with local authorities to lead a campaign promoting hand-washing and hygiene-Developed new non-formal education techniques to improve the health practices of young mothers-Trained adolescents in the areas of decision making and reproductive health-Developed monitoring and evaluation tools and trained local health professionals to use these tools assess the changes in health behaviors and practices in rural communities
