I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Oberlin College, specializing in American literature and environmentalism/ecocriticism. My current book project, "Coming and Going to Know a Place: Transience in Literature of the US West" focuses on the interconnections among the western environment, movement and transience in twentieth-century literature, settler colonialism, and American identity formation. I regularly present at conferences, and I have organized a number of panels for the Western Literature Association (WLA) and Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE), as well as on campus at the University of Michigan. I have served as WLA-ASLE liaison and graduate student representative on the WLA Executive Council. Alongside research, teaching is a top priority for me; I had an article entitled "Reimagining the West in/and the First-Year Writing Course" published in the the Summer 2022 issue of "Western American Literature." This academic year (2024-2025) I am teaching four English courses at Oberlin—"Literature and Environmentalism," "Rethinking Gender in American Literature," "The Wild West, the New West, and the Weird West," and "The Environment and American Fiction"—and a place-based First Year Seminar entitled "Great Lakes and Rust Belt States."
