Supervises the front desk and compliance staff. Helps to promote customer service experience among students and scholars by creating efficient processing, training, and better business practices to implement ways to serve our stakeholders better. Compliance staff overseas all reporting for enrolled international students and alumni on OPT and OPT-STEM Extension. Works to create and promote office events, webinars, and town hall meetings. Acts as a liaison to other offices on campus, participates in meetings and forums, and interprets and explains regulations to staff, students, and faculty.

-Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO)-Advises students and scholars on their non-immigrant status, which includes change of status, reinstatement, filing for work authorization with USCIS, cultural adjustment issues, etc.-Overseas F-1 student compliance to the federal regulations through reports and system alerts.-Handles the registration, personal information updates, program alerts, etc. for 5000+ international students and alumni.-Updates students on regulatory changes through emails and webinars.-Alerts system analysts of any errors within PeopleSoft and the batch processing for SEVIS.-Publishes the ISSS annual enrollment report to show trends in the international students and scholars attending UH.-Provides the international student and scholar data for the IIE’s Open Doors annual reports (iie.org).-Trains new admissions staff, College advisors and personnel regarding F-1 regulations and ISSS business practices.-Leads student volunteers and coordinates the international student orientation and check-ins.-Provides technical guidance to office staff on how to report updates to SEVIS through the PeopleSoft system.-Updates office handouts, forms and website information to comply with new regulations and business practices.

-Developing knowledge of Peoplesoft and SEVIS in relation to an international office environment.-Learning and understanding vital skills in immigration law dealing with F, J, and H4 visa types.-Helping students with questions regarding CPT, OPT, and OPT-X.-Gaining experience of day-to-day questions on immigration issues by watching, learning, and doing.-Understanding the workflow of an office helping over 4000 international students and scholars.-Being a part of the setting up and successful implementation of check-in and orientation for over 250 international students.
