I was the Parliamentary Grant Theme Manager for our Competence Area at the CSIR. The objectives were to build and strengthen the CSIR’s Science, Engineering and Technology base, to develop new knowledge, and to apply this knowledge. This was done by investing Parliamentary Grant funds in equipment, human capital development and projects.

I was responsible for modelling behavioural models of systems in the SIMULINK and MATLAB environment. I have experience in C programming in the Linux and Real-time Linux environments. It spanned from writing device drivers for digital I/O and analogue cards, GUI and UI development to developing virtual environments for computer simulations. I was also partly responsible for conducting test and evaluation exercises to verify and validate the outcomes of the computer simulations.

I was responsible for collating news and other items in the field of systems engineering for Project Performance International's Systems Engineering Newsletter (SyEN). It is an independent free newsletter. The newsletter and a newsletter archive are also available at www.ppi-int.com.
