At the Great Lakes Science Center I served primarily as an educator for guests including school groups, camps and public visitors. Our education programs covered a wide variety of scientific topics from teaching about the states of matter to the ecology of the Great Lakes, to, during this particular summer with a special exhibit on baseball, teaching about the physics of the sport.

Working with the Conservation and Science team at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo I focused on several visitor studies which sought to measure public awareness of the Zoo's conservation programs, guest motivations for visiting the Zoo and the extent to which visitor's knowledge and awareness of wildlife changed after experiencing different kinds of exhibits.

- Developed and conducted surveys with Bronx Zoo guests on the social capital that zoos afford communities including how they create spaces where individuals and families from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds can participate in shared learning experiences with wildlife. This research was a part of a nationwide study titled "Why Zoos Matter" seeking to explore seven domains of benefits that Zoos afford communities.- Supported understanding of and research with zoo guests by conducting zip code analyses of demographics.- Read and learned about best practices in visitor experience research.
