As an Instructional Coach, I work directly with teachers in our Title I middle school to ensure instruction is aligned with academic standards. Our school is 1:1 iPad. We use blended learning models in Math and ELA and a competency based approach in Science and Social Studies. I help teachers embrace the best practices of 21st century teaching and learning while ensuring the basic needs of our students are being met to foster success across all content areas.

As a Digital Integration Specialist, I delivered professional development trainings to teachers from all 54 of our district’s schools. As a 1:1 iPad district, many workshops focused specifically on Apple products and apps to enhance learning. However, other sessions focused on instructional design, content development, and best practices for using digital resources in the classroom. From 2010 to 2012, I oversaw and managed our district’s Enhancing Education through Technology (E2T2) Grants which brought the first iPod touch and iPad devices into our district.

As a classroom teacher, I taught at the middle school and high school levels. I used a variety of digital content and resources to engage students in our standards-driven Social Studies curriculum. As a teacher, I led district-wide professional development sessions for other Social Studies teachers and also presented at our state Social Studies conference. I enjoyed having the opportunity to share my passion for both history and technology with my students.
