Passion, imagination, and creativity are three traits that I value most in myself. These qualities have enabled me to be an effective leader and diligent student. I strive to pursue meaningful relationships and to tackle difficult projects, such as individual research, with resolve. My leadership experience includes two years of managing a staff of twelve to thirteen students. Throughout my time as Desk Manager, I have overseen three different staffs and have learned how to adapt to new situations and new learning styles. I have found that developing relationships and employing fair judgment with my staff helps make operations run smoothly. As a history major, I have spent countless hours tracking down obscure sources, checking facts, and combing through primary and secondary sources. I am driven to find answers to my questions, historical or otherwise, and I am able to break down information to find the most important parts. Currently, I am looking for opportunities to expand my horizons beyond historical research. I write creatively in my spare time and have taken several writing fiction courses at Loyola, which were some of my favorite classes. I believe in the power of words to convey deep meaning and help create change. I believe that extensive reading can broaden one’s mind and perception beyond the everyday world.
