● Designed and implemented a new automation framework (C++, CUDA)● Microfluidic DNA sequencing platform (Python):-- Feedback control subsystems.-- Vision algorithms (using OpenCV).● Developed software for a distributed automation system comprised of 8 semi-asynchronous microfluidics devices and an Epson SCARA robot arm (Python, SPEL+).

● Designed and implemented a distributed digital forensics system with a REST interface utilizing HTCondor (High Throughput Computing), The Sleuth Kit Framework, and Poco (C++). ● Created modules for digital forensics tools (C++), e.g.:-- Experimental semantic search.-- Experimental detection of humans in images using OpenCV.-- Social connections graph visualization using Gephi Toolkit and SQLite. ● Interaction design and implementation of a media exploitation GUI app (Java)● Contributed to open source forensics tools (https://github.com/sleuthkit).

● Designed and implemented an upgrade for the SUGV robot:-- Embedded Stellaris ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller handling thermal camera and USB accessory payload communications (C++).-- Updates to the onboard main processor code (C++).● Designed and implemented GUI to make reconfiguring radios easy and accessible to non-engineers (Qt, C++, Python).● Designed and led development of cross-platform GUIs to enable non-engineers to upgrade robot software and transfer camera images.● Ported an application from Linux to Windows on a specific wearable computer requested by a customer, and then traveled to MARSOC (Marine Corps Special Operations Command) HQ to demonstrate it.

● Led successful quality-controlled AS9100 compatible software releases for the first generation production SUGV (Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle), Models 310 (Mini-EOD) and XM1216.● Led numerous production software upgrade releases for the 310 SUGV.

● Designed and implemented software for SUGV (Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle), a teleoperated military robot:-- Anti-self-collision detection behavior (C++, Bullet).-- Misc. sensor, comms, and logging software on main PowerPC processor (C++).-- Atmel microcontroller: bitmap font display for LCD.● Designed and implemented the first SUGV Operator Control Unit (C++, OpenGL, ffmpeg):-- Wearable computer system with head-mounted display and XBox 360 hand controller.-- GUI: Inspired by video games. Easier to use than its Packbot predecessors; reduced basic training time to a few minutes.-- Developed a new rugged portable hand controller with a third party (Esterline-Mason Small HaWC).● Traveled to US Army facilities and the Pentagon to support prototypes and collect feedback from end users.

● Implemented START, an automated target recognition truthing application, involving implementation of image tracking algorithms (C++, Qt, VisionKit, OpenGL).● Improved the usability and functionality of a multi-platform C++ / Qt mobilerobot interaction application.

● Automated various lab and field laser experiments (Labview, C++).● Improved the usability of a web-based database interface (PHP).● Recompiled Linux kernels to achieve desired configurations for scientists.

Designed and implemented algorithms for 3-phase sine wave to PWMgeneration and verified max frequency obtainable on a PIC microcontroller.
