As part of the Knowledge Management and Innovation team, sole editor in firm of over 500 employees with many English-speaking clients. Responsible for editing high-level legal documents for global, world-leading corporate clients across industries including energy, tech and telecommunications. Editing assignments include highly privileged client memoranda, SPAs, deeds of transfer, and submissions prepared by Stibbe lawyers for institutions including the Dutch Supreme Court, the European Commission, the European Court of Justice and international arbitration bodies. Other duties include coaching lawyers (including partners) for English-language presentations and conferences with client executives and legal counsel, bi-yearly writing workshops for junior associates, voiceovers for internal videos and guides and a monthly presentation to newly-hired employees. Also advising on website and legal template revisions and updates, providing input into strategy for introduction and implementation of new language technologies such as software translation and template automation, and ensuring seamless service to lawyers during the corona-enforced working from home.

Within the Communications team in the Business Development department, responsibilities include editing legal and non-legal texts including contract templates, press releases both for De Brauw and for our clients, confidential client documents, internal and external communications (including for HR, Training, Finance, Events and Clients Relationships), internet and intranet posts and articles, as well as frequently contributing suggestions and copywriting contributions to all of these. Ensuring perfect accuracy in the English language and applying De Brauw house style to ensure firm-wide consistency in tone of voice, terminology and accessibility, while also having enough variation to offer different styles of communication in diverse situations and for a variety of purposes.Also involved in coordinating with colleagues (including partners, lawyers, and colleagues such as graphic designers and communications officers) to assist with management of large projects, distribution of resources and ensuring editing and proof-reading assignments are completed according to clients' timetables.Also creating and delivering English language courses focused on specific needs (Legal English, English for secretarial purposes, public speaking etc), occasional voiceover work for internal videos or guides, a monthly presentation to newly-hired employees on internal house style, and coordinating the editing, design and distribution of our monthly legal journal 'In Context' to over 7000 recipients (including examination of analytics to refine style and delivery methods).
