At CU Denver, I worked as a Transfer Admissions Counselor and support primarily Colorado students reach their goals of obtaining bachelor's degrees. By working with community colleges across the state of Colorado, I counseled students as they transition out of their 2-year institutions and into CU Denver as a 4-year institution. Within this role, I engaged with many adult learners, first-generation college students, veterans, students of color, and students of low-income backgrounds; my experiences with these students introduced me to many systemic barriers within the educational pipeline, many of which I seek to ease for the students on their educational journeys through support and policy building.

During this position, I work directly with the superintendent of the Salida School District to support the development of a college and career-oriented culture for the students. By writing policy briefs and doing academic research, I am contracted to provide solutions and recommendations for the district to implement that will support postsecondary pathways.

This position was a graduate assistantship awarded through the Morgridge College of Education at the University of Denver (M.A. in Higher Education). As a Graduate Assistant, I supported the APS district with college and career event planning and execution for elementary, middle, and high schools. Additionally, I worked directly with students and families on the college application process, supporting them on testing, essays, and the FAFSA. For the first year, I was based at Vista PEAK Preparatory High School in the College and Career Center.

During the summer of 2020, I worked a full-time internship with Greenhouse Scholars, a nonprofit education organization that seeks to support low-income, often first-generation students with postsecondary access and retention. I assisted the programming team with organizing and executing the organization's annual summer symposium, made virtual for the first time, to bring the Scholars together for networking, professional development, and more. Additionally, I supported with other aspects of the nonprofit, such as mentorship trainings, Scholar communications, partnership development, data analysis, and more.

As an admissions assistant at the College of William & Mary Undergraduate Admission office, I represented the admission office by assisting the Admission Counselor. I answered questions over the phone and in the office for prospective students and families, helped organize campus visits and events, and became well-versed on William & Mary's admission policies, figures, and function.

Starting during my freshman year at William & Mary, I was selected to be a tour guide at the College. As a tour guide, I help prospective students and families navigate college culture by teaching them about academic expectations, atmosphere, and life at the College. This role has been a key experience in developing my leadership and recruiting skills.

I worked with various advisors to ensure that Kappa Alpha Theta followed recruitment rules, and I engaged with Kappa Alpha Theta Headquarters to ensure a successful recruitment process. My chapter voted me in for this role, and it was an important aspect of my leadership development.
