Stephanie Kifowit is serving her first term as State Representative of the 84th District. Stephanie’s priorities as state representative include fiscal responsibility and ensuring our state government lives within its means. Her experience as a former registered financial advisor gives her the financial expertise to review the state budget line-by-line in order to make our government more efficient for taxpayers, eliminate unnecessary spending and save taxpayer dollars.Representative Kifowit will work with local employers to help create jobs and improve the infrastructure of the region. She is opposed to raising taxes on middle-class families, and she strongly supports repealing the state income tax increase and legislation to freeze property taxes when home values decline.To help address the challenges facing the state’s pension systems, Representative Kifowit has refused to take a legislative pension and she supports eliminating pensions for all lawmakers. She believes it is an important first step in reserving pensions only for those who truly deserve them, eliminating abuse and stopping the state’s growing debt.Stephanie has made it a priority to honor her fellow military veterans. She spearheaded the effort to save the Aurora Fourth of July Parade by collaborating with the Aurora American Legion Post 84 when budget cuts threatened its continuation. She will continue to stand up for veterans by strengthening the state’s Let Them Rest in Piece Act, which aims to protect military families from disrespectful protests at the funerals of fallen service members. By creating better job opportunities for veterans returning from overseas, Representative Kifowit will help not only our veterans but their families too.The 84th Representative District includes portions of Aurora, Oswego, Naperville, Montgomery and Boulder Hill.
