• Operate under the direction of the Shift Supervisor for all aspects of plant operations. Operate the plant and all associated equipment through the DCS system to ensure operation within specified parameters. Regulate the load on the boilers and turbine-generator(s) to maintain proper steam temperature, system pressures, feed-water supply, fuel supply, & generator voltage.• Monitor plant operations, making adjustments as needed to optimize performance & take swift action upon dangerous operation to put plant & personnel in safe condition.• Interface directly with Grid Operations and Generation Dispatching personnel. • Troubleshoot equipment that fails during operation to provide assistance to the maintenance technicians & control technicians in identifying required repairs.• Provide direction to Plant Operators to effect changes in plant conditions.• Maintain NERC certification & comply with FERC standards of conduct.

• Successfully accomplish three year power plant operation apprenticeship classroom & practical examinations, while adhering to all plant policies, safety regulations & proving competency of plant operation & job execution.• Train many hours in control room under CRO supervision.• Operate & maintain system equipment in 680 megawatt generating facility such as; high pressure steam generators, GE turbine cycle, AC generators, feed water pumps, condensers, cooling towers, wet scrubbers, water treatment, compressors, environmental equipment, transformers, high voltage switchgears, emergency diesel generators, etc.• Manage Distributed Control System to secure optimal functionality of the systems including startup & shutdowns, monitor combustion process, fuel/air ratios.• Troubleshoot malfunctioning systems using manufactures’ manuals, blueprints, piping & instrument diagrams, & work requesting damaged equipment for repair using asset suite.

• Responsible for maintaining plant equipment, boiler & auxiliary systems, bearing & gearbox vibration analysis, oil analysis, installation of new systems.• Operate equipment necessary to finish process of liner board manufacturing including; hydraulic lifts, pneumatically operated equipment, overhead cranes, positive displacement & centrifugal type pumps, boiler steam systems & auxiliary equipment.• Analyze the performance and conditions of vital equipment to prevent damage.• Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, establish lockout /tag out & repair equipment.• Complete confined space training to enter tanks and reservoirs for outage maintenance.
