State On-Scene Coordinator
CurrentState On-Scene Coordinator at the scene of spills/releases of hazardous substances and materials. Actions ensure that appropriate measures are taken to stop, contain, control and cleanup releases of hazardous substances to protect public health and safety and the environment. Coordinate overall response efforts between the responsible party and government entities. Provide technical assistance and oversight of cleanup activities, sample collection, and follow-up. Author field reports, standard operating procedures, presentations, and recovery declarations; Liaison/coordination with local officials, fire departments, emergency planners and planning organizations, private industry, other state and federal agencies, to foster emergency planning and preparedness, training, and exercising. Liaison and outreach includes membership in emergency planning organizations and an active role in the community. Provide training and outreach to first responders, emergency planners, schools, and state employees. Demonstrate leadership through recognition as a subject matter expert.Provide and receive continuing education training addressing: emergency response procedures, state and federal regulations and programs, hazardous materials/substances identification and management, environmental monitoring, waste management, cleanup and treatment technologies, pollution prevention, sample collection and analytical techniques, environmental regulations, rail and highway transportation of hazardous materials.
