I am a well-seasoned attorney and adviser who previously practiced at Hughes & Luce, L.L.P.; Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, L.L.P.; and Diamond McCarthy, L.L.P., where I was an equity partner before leaving at the end of 2013. Over the past two decades, I have spent a substantial part of my time in East and Southeast Asia, in general, and the Republic of the Philippines, in particular, focusing on cross-border disputes and otherwise assisting private and governmental entities navigate where business, policy and politics meet. My long-term experience with the governmental, legal, cultural and business environments within these regions serve to uniquely enable me to both address disputes and help identify, inform and proactively manage business challenges, interests and opportunities. My experience includes advising and assisting individuals and companies in a number of sectors – including information technology, telecommunications, energy and resources, infrastructure and consumer products – with foreign investment and operation in complex foreign environments. My experience further includes a wide range of business and commercial litigation involving securities and fraud cases, intellectual property claims, oil and gas disputes, professional (accountants, director/officer) liability suits, environmental actions, and various real estate cases, business torts, and contract disputes with private and governmental entities, both domestically and abroad, and in both federal and state courts. I also have served as Special U.S. Legal Counsel to the Office of the President for the Republic of the Philippines and as Special Adviser to the Secretary of Finance for the Republic of the Philippines.
