I am the Team Leader Health and Safety at the Kingston City Council. I lead a team of dedicated and committee OHS and Injury Management specialists and advisers who provide advice and support to an organisation of over 1500 employees serving our Kingston community.My latest journey began in 2018 when I joined local government accepting the position at the Kingston City Council. It was an exciting time of rejuvenation with the People & Culture department enabling us to invest in our managers and leaders to enhance our safety programs. Now as the Team Leader Health and Safety, I am committed to empowering my team to drive a new culture and implement bold new health and safety initiatives. We have launched our Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2023-2025 focused on aiding the transition to a high performance organisation and taking us from good to great.In March 2020 I served as the Pandemic Response Officer leading and directing Kingston Councils management of the COVID-19 pandemic response. I directed the Crisis Management Team (Business Recovery Team) for over two years providing health, safety, risk and legal advice on the pandemic response to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff the continuity of Council services to support our community.I have 15 years of health, safety and quality experience focused in the aviation/airline field with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, Thailand, Hong Kong and the USA. I have managed both Aviation and Workplace Health and Safety Management Systems developing, implementing and facilitating audit and inspection programs, risk management frameworks, safety and hazard reporting, incident and injury investigation together with achieving regulatory and independent certifications under various regulatory and standards frameworks. I have experience reviewing and implementing corporate governance programs focusing on enterprise-wide risk management programs at executive and board levels, including facilitating organisational Audit and Risk Committees.I have presented at multiple conferences in Australia on health and safety matters including fatigue risk management and workplace mental health programs.I am the convenor of the Local Government Workplace Mental Health Seminar bringing together over 250 local government specialists from three states every few months. The seminar serves as a community of practice allowing participants to receive professional develop whilst also networking and collaborating with their peers across the industry.

Together we are responsible for supporting the teams who deliver community services including festivals and events, parking enforcement, gardening, child care and kindergarten, in-home aged care, libraries, community centres, arts centres, sport and recreation, waste management and many more.My role enables me to regularly and proactively engage with managers and executives on health and safety matters providing them leadership support on their strategic and compliance obligations. I have implemented programs focused on early intervention and preventive efforts to focused on the health and welling of all our team members.In 2023 we embark on the next phase of our journey with the launch of our Workplace Health and Safety Strategy. -
Manager Procurement & Contracts (Secondment)Kingston City Council May 2024 - Aug 2024I lead a team six in our Procurement & Contracts department for a few months whilst the organisation recruited for a new Manager.Together with the team, I was responsible for providing information and specialist advice in procurement and contracting across the organisation. The team oversees tendering and contract compliance, reporting organisational activity and driving best value outcomes from procurement.In addition to the tradition procurement functions, I was also responsible Councils vehicle fleet and insurance programs and oversee contractor occupational health and safety.Highlights I was able to achieve during this opportunity:1) Creating Council's first annual Insurance Report. The report detailed the coverage we have as an organisation, premium and excess changes for the new financial year, historical claims analysis and identification of key risk areas.2) Establishing a strategic partnership with the Kinaway Chamber of Commerce and achieving key deliverables as part of Council's Reconciliation Action Plan.3) Creating a draft of Council's first Fleet Strategy and Annual Action Plan to guide the fleet activities over the next year to allow the new Manager to review and update it ready to align with our new Council Plan in June 2025.4) Contributing to Council's NetZero 2030 strategy by achieving a 5% reduction in our internal combustion engine passenger vehicle fleet and working with our Libraries leadership team to transition to electric vehicles.5) Building a really collaborative working relationship with our Legal team and setting up a model to integrate our insurance claims review process in conjunction with the legal and governance teams, aligning it with our enterprise risk management framework. -
