As a highly accomplished educator, my pedagogy centres around empowering students and inspiring them to thrive, offering them a rigorous and expansive exploration of our world, its politics and the human spirit. Through text and enactment, the classroom is where I teach with a joy for discovery; and for my students learning happens in an inclusive “doing” environment where the circle on the floor becomes an important dynamic for sharing and reflection. Throughout my 30 year career, with leadership experience in single-sex and co-educational, international and undergraduate environments, I have developed versatile expertise, and depth and breadth in my understanding of young people’s education. Fulfilling and defining the complex roles of faculty leader, lecturer, theatre director, boarding master and sports coach, and two years teaching in Asia, my educational philosophy is founded in my faith in learning, in optimism for young people and pride in the institutions which provide the cornerstones for rich student-centred experiences. Cognizant of and invested in contemporary pedagogical theories and practice, I continue to work as a consultant, curriculum writer and course presenter meeting the needs of educators and students in the wider community. Fulfilling positions on committees that are driving and responding to educational change, including being a council member on Kingswood College’s wellbeing and governance sub committees, reflect my dedication to championing a strategic vision. I am instrumental in generating high quality, aesthetically unique theatrical and co-curricular experiences and readily develop and sustain rapport with cast and crew. Organised and flexible with a friendly and genuine professionalism, I offer respectful and creative collaboration and I am keen to be part of any focused and inspiring community that you engender.
