Lead DeveloperImage Technology Systems Sep 2013 - May 2014Richardson, Texas, UsImage created their Visual Matrix PMS system about a year before my first tenure with them. During that time I had envisioned a web version of their desktop application. This time I made that reality. Through thoughtful planning with the owner we formed a team under my direction, I set forth an architecture, and we created a product which has become Image's top product, is the flagship PMS used by Best Western and is still being sold in 2022. Product was developed on Azure using C# .Net, Angular JS, and MSSQL. -

Systems EngineerSungard Dec 2007 - Mar 2011Wayne, Pa, UsShortly after joining Sungard I took the role of User Interface Lead on a project known as Helios, a back office system which tracks time, expenses, AP, AR, and many other accounting functions. The overall goal of Helios is to provide an interface by which all time and expenses may be tracked, approved, and documented in the appropriate external system, typically the general ledger. My UI Lead duties included design and consultation on new functionality, management of our many style sheets and themes, and Javascript functionality regarding UI. In the first half of my second year with Sungard my focus on Helios shifted to maintenance and performance issues, and contributed heavily in refactoring the areas with the worst problems. After the team decided to begin utilizing ExtJS/Ext.Net(Coolite) along with Microsoft's MVC.net I used my experience with asynchronous javascript (AJAX) and MVC systems to not only speed up those systems, but also to contribute to team education involved with the paradigm shift from the WebForms model. During the second half of the year I returned to new development, implementing the new technologies to rework our Project Management module. In my third year with Sungard I have taken a leading role in developing a workflow management system to be utilized by a large number of merging departments. I am re-designing the core workflow engine to run on XPDL, an XML standard for workflows, away from a proprietary model. The project has been fully documented before hand to allow other developers to easily contribute to the project. While coding for the project I have also taken the role of code reviewer, covering both architecture and standards. This project involves ExtJS and MVC.net. Unlike Helios which included the Ext.Net "wrapper", this system uses a pure implementation of the AJAX/MVC model. This project was my first experience with Agile, quite possibly the most effective and productive environment I’ve had the opportunity to work in -

Technical Support LeadImage Technology Systems Jun 2004 - Apr 2007This company develops and supports Visual Matrix, a Property Management System/Accounting Software for mid-hotels such as Best Western. I started with the company 5 men strong as one of 3 support technicians, and as supervisor grew the department to 12. My daily duties revolved around 4 disciplines: Server/Network Installation, Documentation, Application/Tools Programming, and Staff Management. New clients typically bought all new computers when purchasing our software, 5-10 computers per site. Installations from box to live were performed via phone with hotel staff or VNC. I would assign as well as perform many of these installations. This included setup of a workgroup on a dual gateway network, providing secure access to a private VSAT network. Setup of routing tables and firewall rules on most every router available was required. We also sold an interface requiring IIS installation and setup to link the hotel’s external site to the internal database. As the only technician familiar with IIS, firewalls and network security in our initial staff I alone installed that product. Later I would also use this knowledge as one of the developers the department’s networking and setup practices. As our client base grew I wrote standard practices for our techs, which included weekly releases of documentation, enable us to hire inexperienced staff which could easily keep up with growth. Once the team reached common ground I would write applications to replace repetitive or complicated tasks, helping to minimize issues caused by knowledge gaps. Keeping these tools updated as well as documentation led me to the role of webmaster for the company for my first year with the company.
