ETL (Extract, Transform and Load):A new short-term (horizon of 5 years) demand panel econometric based forecasting model was developed to inform the 2011 IPART Price Submission. I consolidated the required data from many sources, extensively manipulated and finally prepared the data for modelling. Outcome: Later, this model was used to construct a new long-term demand forecasting model. I continuously contributed to the development of the requirements for the long-term demand forecasting model.SPSS, Stata, MapInfo, Microsoft SQL, Excel, Access, and Visio were used for this project.Consumer Segmentation: I developed separate dynamic econometric panel data models for 14 different consumer segments, using the econometric estimation method of General Method of Momentum (GMM) to better understand Sydney Water’s customers.Outcome: A lecturer from the University of Otago (NZ) made the following observation: “I commend the effort San has put into this research. He has demonstrated extensive understanding of the different econometric methods to analyse the research problem.”SPSS, Stata, MapInfo, Microsoft SQL, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Visio were used for this project.Reporting/Requests: I provide input into major Sydney Water reports (Annual Report, Water Conservation, and Metropolitan Water Plan), folios (Leakage, Water Efficiency) at specific times each year. Price Elasticity Study:This state of the art panel data analysis involved analysing 5 years of metered consumption for around 100,000 households to determine the impact price increases had on water consumption. I performed all ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) tasks for this project as well as provided expert advice to the external consultant.Outcome: This is one of the largest econometric panel studies ever done in this space and it set a new benchmark in estimating the responsiveness of residential households to water usage prices. I was presented with an award as a direct result of this study.SPSS, Stata, MapInfo, Microsoft SQL, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Visio were used for this project.BASIX Multi-Dwelling Review: To ensure that BASIX is implemented as intended and to its full potential, Sydney Water and the Department of Planning (DoP) were undertaking analysis on the water savings. This study was previously deemed too difficult to undertake however, I performed this study and prepared the BASIX Multi-Unit Water Savings Monitoring Report. Outcome: This analysis provided insights into this program and enabled DoP to benchmark BASIX properties.SPSS, Microsoft SQL, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Visio were used for this project.Program Evaluations ( Pre, During & Post Analysis): I have project managed and guided program evaluation of Sydney Water's water efficiency programs. The outcomes of many evaluations changed the way Sydney Water has been operating.
