Hobbyist Beekeeper: Raise and promote honey bees and pollinators by social media, word of mouth and rescues of honey bees. Also, provide educational information as requested by interested individuals interested in purchasing honey, bee's and obtaining hives for personal or business use. Would love to establish a honey bee habitat somewhere locally within the City of Kaufman for educational/pollinator purposes and believe this would work right in line with our local Master Gardeners Association of Kaufman County to spread the word and provide a means to gather together and grow our community to greater lengthsHobbyist Orchard Grower: Purchased over 100 fruit trees and over 100 berry bushes (black and blue) to install on acreage to provide pollinator nectar, pollen and fruit and berries for sale by a local grower. Kaufman can have an orchard again to visit. Primarily it is providing a source on food and nutrition to pollinators of all types but it sure will be nice to get locally grown, non pesticide fruit and honey locally. This also enables educational, recreational and promotional opportunities for local and long distance interested parties.Hobbyist Monarch Sanctuary: Approximately 24 acres are in the process of being developed to establish year round feed, water and shelter for our pollinators with extra attention devoted to the endangered Monarch Butterfly. Overall, there are approximately 33.4 acres that will eventually be developed to provide a demonstration site for education purposes to expand the knowledge of the benefits of honey bees and pollinators. Included in the design will be nature trails, fishing in a stocked pond, honey bee hive demonstrations, plant identifications and their uses.Efforts to involve the local schools to partake in the educational, recreational outdoor facility will be encouraged. After all, it is our younger generation that will be the future stewards of their land and pollinators. This would be a great 4-H, FFA, Homemakers of America, Fishing Clubs, etc site since it is so close to the Kaufman schools.An obstacle course for various stages of individuals is also a consideration because everyone needs to stay healthy. Plans are to provide walking nature trail, medium exercise/competition trail and extreme exercise/competition trail.
