Children. Blank canvases onto which anything can be drawn. With the right influence, they can grow holistically to succeed in life. With the wrong influence, though, they can be frightened, traumatised or otherwise hurt. I, Sky Wong, a fresh graduate from Early Childhood Studies, believe strongly that, as educators, protecting and preparing these vulnerable children should be of utmost importance.My love for children and teaching, has driven me to pursue my studies in Early Childhood Education. I believe that through this I would be able to use my expertise, knowledge and skills in teaching children to make education possible for all children. To do that, I believe we need to be hardworking, dependable and empathetic team players.Through my studies in Early Childhood Education in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I get to go for practicum sessions in My Little Skool House, E-Bridge Preschool and six month internship in PCF Sparkletots. These experiences, has shaped me to be effective in planning lesson plans that is age appropriate for the children. It also allowed me to improve my classroom management and how I assess the children in various development.On top of my practicum and internship experience, I am an assistant teacher in People Impact. It is a school that conduct activities that focus on children’s social skills, cognitive intelligenc (IQ)e and emotional intelligence (EQ). Social skills is one of the worry that a teacher has nowadays, due to the fact that children are born into a technology advanced world. Hence, I have joined as assistant teacher to learn how else I could craft my lesson plans such that it will improve the children in socials skills, IQ and EQ.
