The Youth Employment Program is a government funded program to help youth get into the working world or go into post-secondary schooling.We learned about business etiquette, entrepreneurship, color dynamics(which is your color to your personality),budgeting and finances, as well as workplace safety. They have shown us the Do's and Don'ts of the work place what to do with handling difficult situations.They give us the opportunity to work in an area of our choice or were we would fit in. Helping us find ourselves along the way.

I worked on several day shifts. I was communicating with customers making sure they had what they were coming in for. Handling money, working with a POS system, as well as cooking food and making sure it was always up to code.

Worked as a cashier at Galaxy CinemasI was able to work in a team to accomplish all of the duties that were given to us by our managers to insure that all work duties were completed by the end of the night for closingReceiving payments and giving back to the right amount of changePreparing orders by guestsTaking on cleaning duties: Cleaning butter pump, popcorn merchandiser and popper, pop towers.Doing counts at the end of the night: Counting candy, toppers, butter, nacho cheese and sauce to ensure they had right numbers.(Every night) Thursdays were all merchandise that we had in the back stock room.Giving movie tickets to guests and making sure they knew which theater they were going to.Also was trained in YoYo's: Serving coffee and other beverages to guests.Frozen Yogurt: Making sure the frozen yogurt machines were full so they didn't run out of anything Cleaning machines when it was time to switch out the yogurtRefilling candy; making sure everything was topped up for people to put toppings on frozen yogurt

Youth Employment Program that I was enrolled in to help me further my search in the work place.I was able to work on my resume, interview and computer skills. They gave us different opportunities to meet different employers and talk to them about different job placements.They were able to help me find a placement in the Entertainment Industry at the Galaxy of Guelph movie theater and was able to work there for 7 months and make great connections.I was able to learn different parts of Galaxy such as YoYo's the coffee and yogurt part of the movie theater. I was also starting to learn floor, how to do checks, as well as help people find where they were to go in the movies.
