About Skye Rogers
I am an art psychotherapist with a Masters degree from Western Sydney University. My areas of interest and experience include aged care, and those living with advanced dementia; kids and teens with social and emotional difficulties (current position); and those living with intellectual challenges (current position). I offer a strengths-based, person-centred approach which incorporates some dedicated fun amongst the more serious theoretical underpinnings. Engaging through art offers an engagement with life. I have seen its power to change lives and am committed to it as a ‘raison d’etre’.I am also a long-time designer, illustrator, crafter, and workshop host. And I have authored 5 non-fiction books. Driven by a desire to communicate, share and ‘go deep’, my philosophy is to remain curious and open to all that life might have to offer. From January 2015 - September 2018 I was given the opportunity to open a retail space through RENEW AUSTRALIA, in Leichhardt, Sydney. I made and designed items for the shop, plus collaborated with other artists and hosted a variety of craft based workshops to both children and adults. I design all the ranges for my stationery business, Skye's The Limit. I have also licensed my designs and illustrations world-wide. I have designed very successful greeting card ranges for many companies for decades. My card ranges are currently distributed in Australia by AERO IMAGES.I have a strong desire to 'upcycle'/re purpose whatever is at hand, hence my book, PAPER BLISS. (I especially adore paper and love to work with it whichever way I can.) This is my 5th book, though it is the first that combines my skills of making/designing and writing. The others are general trade/non-fiction.I facilitate workshops far and wide and am open to interesting collaborations/offers.I continue to write and that includes poetry.I am a passionate maker and create bespoke, unique 'portrait dolls' of people (commissioned) plus altered books/art books which include poetry. My motto might just be, 'I create, therefore I am..'.I love to share what I do.I have loved my internship with Sir Moses Montefiore Residential Home in Randwick, NSW during 2021.
Listed skills include Illustration, Greeting Cards, Creative Nonfiction Writing, Design Workshops, and 19 others.

Director
ART(co)LAB collaborates with art therapists to engage, inform and educate about art therapy. We also offer opportunities to book qualified art therapists for group art therapy sessions for corporate engagements, schools, community team building or aged care/residential homes.
Art Therapist
I facilitate a weekly art therapy group at my local neighbourhood centre, where art making and creativity are central to the well being of all who attend. From ages 14 through to mid 60’s, each week brings different opportunities for engagement, learning and self-expression. Working towards common goals unites the members, imparting social awareness and reciprocity. A strong sense of belonging is central to what occurs here - group members feel safe, respected and equal.
Art Therapist
At Spencer Health, I am working as an art psychotherapist with children and adolescents from age 5 to mid-teens. I am utilising the tools developed by KIDSLINK founder Leonie Reisberg to assist young people in their social and emotional relationships. This is effected through engagement in the arts. An interesting, effective and gentle alternative to ‘talk therapy’.

I was also involved in illustrating early campaigns for Apple Computers and illustrated the interiors of several cookbooks. They include my sister Sheridan's, 'The Cook's Garden,' and books by Australian foodies such as Diane Houligue, and Peter Consitis. I also illustrated many book jackets - including a best seller for Doyle's Fish Restaurant. I also designed and illustrated the menu for Neil Perry's first restaurant, The Blue Water Grill, amongst many others.(Yes I have been at it a long time!).My writing work began in the 1990's when I collaborated on a book with a friend...(Jobs for the Girls, with Caro Llewellyn). My writing went on to include several pieces I read to air on ABC radio, as well as the next 4 books. I also won a travelling scholarship to attend the IOWA writers workshop in the U.S. for a summer in 2005.I always seem to write about what's of interest to me at whatever stage of life I find myself in...so let's see what's next! (I suspect it might be about running a creative business...and the pitfalls and pleasures etc). I love writing and being creative full time...it helps me breathe! and I love communicating ideas, whichever way I may find to do it.*AUTHOR: I am the author of five books, the most recent of which is called 'Paper Bliss', published by Harper Collins Australia, April 2012. I also took all the photos for this project plus did all the styling. Designer
Illustrator/designer of best selling card and stationery lines, available Australia wide
Director
Artist, writer and curator at Skye’s the Limit. Under this umbrella I create my artworks plus write books and curate art shows.
Art Therapist
I began with ‘Monte’ as an intern while doing my Masters. I then went on to work as an art therapist in various locations including Maroubra Shores and Randwick. I worked in the high care areas as well as hostel residents. Inviting those living with dementia into the ‘dance of art making’ taught me much about approach, process and letting go of outcomes. This was a very rich, informative time where I learned ‘on the job’ how art therapy can be conducted within a certain population. Witnessing some trying art for the first time or ‘remembering how to’ was illuminating!
Art Therapy Intern
Applying my University/academic learning on placement has been a very rich and rewarding experience. I have learned so much from my clients, and have had very positive feedback on my work and approach at this aged care home.
Art Therapist
I worked at sir Moses Montefiore Jewish Home the capacity of trainee art therapist and then secured a job as art therapist. I assisted residents in pursuing meaning and mindfulness through their art making, established a strong rapport with my client base. I worked across almost every site the organisation has, with a wide variety of clients from a diversity of backgrounds. I also developed some ideas to further the residents’ engagement with their art, such as creating high quality photographic books of their art so that they could revisit their work and appreciate their past efforts. This was very well received by clients and their families. I also provided innovation in developing concepts for a team building event that was very well received. some innovative ideas
