Co-Head Of Theatre
As the co-head of Annapurna’s Live Stage and Theatre division, Optican helped develop, finance, and produce bold, original plays and musicals for Broadway and the West End. Optican built, established, and maintained relationships with key figures in the industry, such as: artistic directors, theater owners, producers, dramaturgs, up-and-coming and renowned talent (directors, composers, actors, and playwrights), managers and agents, non-for-profit and commercial theaters in the Domestic (NY, regional cities) and International (London) spaces. Optican built a business plan that outlines development and producing investment opportunities to bring different revenue streams to Annapurna. Optican solicits, reads, and responds to script submissions and pitches as well as pitch ideas for new plays and musicals adaptations from various source material. Optican identifies productions with potential to play multiple territories, as well as identify and recommend opportunities to invest in shows at a co-producer or partner level, non-profit productions for enhancement. Optican recommends material and artists with potential to crossover to television, film, gaming and interactive and share recommendations with appropriate Annapurna divisions. Optican works with Annapurna's divisions to identify existing AP properties for theatrical adaptation. Optican acts as a resource to divisions to gauge theater viability of potential non-theater acquisitions.
