There's a reason why everyone in my family calls me "Miss I Did It My Way". I've never been one to do anything I didn't believe in whole-heartedly, and my career path has been no different. In 2012 I cofounded MarninSaylor with $800, a basement bedroom, and a confused cadre of family and friends wondering what in the world I was choosing to do with my life. Today we are a team of ten talented individuals with a brick and mortar store in one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Seattle's Pike Place Market. With my team behind me, I've built a brand that goes beyond our core product group of handmade toys to create immersive, customer-focused experiences that keep fans coming back time and time again (plus what we make is pretty dang cute, too). I'm incredibly proud of everything I've created this past decade, as well as the skills I've been able to develop within myself throughout the many stages and evolutions of our company. From business strategy to project management, goal-setting, financial planning, hiring, training, and managing staff, customer correspondence and care, product design, social media management, store concept and design, and more ... everyone who has built their own business knows that one needs to wear many hats and remain adaptable throughout tumult and turbulence. I believe that the core values of openness, transparency, collaboration, and unabashed weirdness that I’ve instilled within our company culture from the beginning have made it possible for us to weather the many storms that could have sunk us over the last decade.In addition to heading up MarninSaylor, I also sit on the board of the Pike Place Market Foundation where I focus on activating the Market's vibrant merchant community for the good of the Market village as a whole. In my free time I enjoy hiking with my dog, cycling, playing music, making art, traveling, writing, and seeking out the tastiest snacks Seattle has to offer.
