Remember the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? I must admit, I fit this mold quite well. I can be very reserved, but when I am in my element, my colors begin to shine. And by colors, I mean: skills, knowledge, and personality. Over the last 11 years of working at SkyWest Airlines in the Records department, I have come to understand what it takes to be a Records Specialist and Supervisor with in this ever-evolving industry. Being in the Records department requires a: working knowledge of tracked components and inspections, auditing, FAA regulations regarding airworthiness directives, and tracking of weight and balance of the aircraft and much more. Most people think that when you are in Records, that you are just a paper pusher and filer. Well as you can see, this is not the case and is not just some entry level position. As Supervisor in this department, not only do you have to retain all this knowledge so you can train, you also must maintain a positive work environment that can encompass many varied personalities and work ethics. I have come to understand and love what I have been able to learn and gain from my experiences.
