Nightdrive makes rigorously irreverent, demandingly vulnerable, borderline-impossible plays that use indelible moments of stagecraft to build thrillingly personal relationships with audiences, empowering them to reimagine themselves and what they’re capable of. Dispatching new, surprising ways of telling stories that we create in our hyper-collaborative playmaking process, often created with all our performers and designers in the room from the first spark of the idea, Nightdrive chauffeurs our artists and audiences through the darkness of the world outside, the quiet horror of sharing their tenderness, and the clandestine rush of taking risks together anyway, practicing the collective compassion and boldness it will take to make a better world in the morning.We've made a live, immersive alien movie about becoming a better person (ALIEN NATION at Paradise Factory); created a town in a theater, complete with city council meetings and a community pancake breakfast cooked onstage (PROVIDENCE, RI at The Tank's Flint & Tinder series); and played a fictionally autobiographical rock concert about an artists' residency in a haunted foreclosed house in Detroit (THANK YOU SORRY at Ars Nova). Our play with interactive animation APATHY BOY was an O'Neill finalist, our part-play, part participatory focus group SOCIETY was a semifinalist for the Relentless Award, and we’ve been resident artists at Ars Nova and Pipeline Theatre Company. Skylar Fox (co-writer, director, designer) and Simon Henriques (co-writer, performer) are the co-artistic directors of Nightdrive.
