Skylar James, an Atlanta native, will start her senior year at Georgia State University this fall. She is now pursuing an interdisciplinary studies degree with a focus on law and society. She intends to attend law school to further her legal profession after finishing her undergraduate studies. Her interest in legal grew after interning at her local municipality and courts with Douglasville City Hall. She was able to obtain an insider's perspective on the interaction between law and civil service, as opposed to private sector businesses. Later in her career, James was able to develop her skills beyond the legal department and head the city's new DEI effort. Aside from her professional expertise, she has been active in a community volunteer organization called Youth Against Violence, which is a nationally known program run by the Georgia Municipal Association that strives to keep underprivileged teens away from gangs and gun violence. Skylar has always had a great drive to serve others, which she hopes to combine with a legal career in the future.
