This position allows me to leverage my years of experience in the hospitality industry against a constantly-growing knowledge of Oracle-based Point of Sales systems. Installation, programming and training are specialties of mine, and I have the opportunity to share this knowledge across a variety of clients.With a emphasis on customer-focused solutions, I am able to lead installations of new systems, upgrades from an older system or fine-tune and tweak an existing system. Problem-solving is a regular part of this position as well, giving the chance for me to come up with creative methods of making something work to a client's specifications.As an implementation specialist, I am able to provide not only a comprehensive programming methodology for the Simphony Point of Sales system, but I also have a broad knowledge of several third-party applications and payment programs that integrate with Simphony, as well as peripheral knowledge of the systems that make up a Simphony environment (server management, SQL/Oracle databases, networking and security).Training is another important aspect of this position, as both management and front-line staff need to be able to understand the systems they will be interacting with both from a programming standpoint, as well as part of their daily jobs. My long-time experience in the Hospitality industry prior to this job combines with my IT knowledge to allow me to be a bridge between the Operations and Information Technology teams, as I can help translate what each side needs from the other. This position involves maintaining the entire Food & Beverage POS database for the entirety of Great Wolf Resorts. Along with keeping a master list of all menu items that exist in the Micros Simphony database, the job also entails designing touchscreens, discounts, kitchen printing designations, hardware/software knowledge and deployment.While a part of Food & Beverage, the role involves not only working closely with the Ops teams at the lodges, but also other departments such as Retail, Revenue, IT and Payroll. Beyond upkeep of the Simphony system, responsibilities also include maintaining digital signage for F&B, assisting with IT-related concerns within the POS systems, helping with tip issues and providing knowledge and information when there are questions about reporting or revenue configuration.

The IT manager is responsible for all information technology systems within the hotel, which includes server maintenance, systems upkeep and providing personal helpdesk assistance to all departments as necessary.This role included basic networking tasks (wiring and Cisco-based switch configuration), deploying new machines and phones, troubleshooting the back-end of our interactive role-playing game (Magiquest), providing maintenance for all desktops, laptops and POS hardware and managing AV equipment as well; this involved setting up speakers, microphones and projectors for Banquet events, and tending to the lodge-wide music/PA system.

The main function of this job was to provide setup assistance and inventory of the audio/visual equipment in the Banquets department at the hotel. However, I also worked as the assistant to the IT manager, and gained technical knowledge and provided technical assistance to all departments as required. This latter responsibility included basic networking knowledge, both crafting cable, placing it and patching it, basic Cisco switch configuration, knowledge of Windows-based platforms, both PC and Server builds, as well as numerous systems used throughout the hotel. These included our Salto door system, the security camera system, the Opera PMS system and our Micros 9700 POS system.

Over the course of two years, I worked as first the manager of the Dunkin Donuts inside the lodge, after which I helped run the operations in the main restaurant.While in Dunkin, the following were my responsibilities:- Managing the coffee shop both operationally and as a leader- Ordering food and supplies for the store- Hiring, scheduling and managing employees- Maintaining labor and costs for the outlet based on budgets provided to me by my managers- All training for employees in the store- Guest relations as pertaining to the outlet itself.While in the restaurant, responsibilities included:- Hiring and scheduling employees- Guest relations both in and outside of the restaurant- Deciding floor plans and choosing when to call additional employees or send some home- Providing exceptional guest service, both as serving and bartending when necessary, or simply helping to run food/clean tables; taking the most effective role whenever needed.- Keeping good communication and relations between the front and back of house.
