MPH - Internship Experience

Graduate Research Project mentored by Doctor Naomi Lee. Project was titled “Implementing a Culturally-Appropriate Biospecimen Protocol during the COVID 19 Pandemic to address cervical cancer disparities among Native American women”

Each summer from May-August. 1st Summer - Rehabilitation Medicine Department and shadowed Physical Therapists working with rare neuromuscular disorders and stroke rehabilitation. Tested validity of walking GaitRite Mat to Wireless bluetooth biomechanical sensors.2nd Summer -Bench lab work with Dr Andrew Singleton's Alzheimer's and Dementia Lab. Worked on identifying DNA marks related to Giant Axonal Neuropathy (GAN) to help diagnosis process simpler for GAN patients.3rd Summer - Physician shadowing and trained as a scribe for Neurology Consult Service in NIH Medical Center. Presented data on the utilization of the Neurology Consult Services among requested departments in NIH Medical Center.

Interned with Sanford Sport Science to strengthen their ACL Prevention Screening Program. Assisted with USD Women's Basketball and SDSU Football teams Strength/Speed Testing. Measured adolescent female athletes knee loading angles to assess knee strength/stability.
