This program is part of the WSU Global Health Alliance and consists of seminars, local advocacy, and a capstone project. The program’s focus is on health equity, care of underserved and vulnerable populations, and local community advocacy. Freedom House Detroit: My capstone project included volunteering with Freedom House, which is a nonprofit that provides housing, legal assistance, and medical advocacy for refugees. My group primarily provided informational videos to residents and worked on plans for a volunteer-based medical consultation program for residents to get free medical advice.

I worked part-time at the Covid-19 vaccine clinic within the urgent care while in PA school. I wanted to do something to help during the Covid-19 pandemic, so my role as a PA in training working there was to administer Covid-19 vaccines, answer patient questions, and monitor for adverse reactions.

I worked as a medical assistant in a busy outpatient cardiology office for Dr. Gunateet Goswami. I worked with 3 PAs and shadowed them and Dr. Goswami at Henry Ford Hospital (Clinton Twp, MI). I triaged patients, performed EKGs, vitals, scheduled appointments, and refilled prescriptions. I observed the testing offered in-house, including echos, carotid dopplers, stress tests, and nuclear stress tests.
