Product Owner
Product Owner PIM/MDM & IntegrationsResponsible for a custom built master data management platform containing all machine data and a custom built integration layer between Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO/CE and all other custom built applications part of what we call the "Q.One Platform".Scrum, Agile, Microservices, Java, Kafka, Streaming, Events, API, REST, GCP, Grafana
Delivery Coach
As part of a major transformation towards a Powerhouse of Brands providing a seamless, omni-channel customer experience, responsible to setup people for success in their transition towards a Product Owner role and to take the lead in one of the projects part of the Business-ICT roadmap.
Product Owner
Part of one of the teams working on the "Digital Newsroom" platform, an enabler for the "online first" strategy at De Persgroep. On the "Digital Newsroom" platform all content (articles, video's, polls, ...) is created, published & distributed to the various brands (HLN, De Morgen, AD, ADR, Trouw, VK, ...) and channels (print, online, ...) owned by De Persgroep. Our main challenge was to migrate all editorial departments from the existing (an aged) platform towards a new one while not having achieved feature parity yet and no goal to achieve it either. Together with everyone involved we did however manage to convince all key users making the rollout and adoption a success.MVP, Scrum, Agile, Microservices, Java, API, REST, AMQ, Amazon AWS, Elastic SearchWhat did I learn here?- Every product, service and/or team needs a mission/vision to create alignment and purpose.- If the Scrum Master and the Product Owner are a "match" this an immediate boost for the team.- Aligning 30+ development teams is never easy. No matter what methodology or framework you use.- When migrating from on-premise to Amazon AWS (or Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Engine, ...) a lift & shift is not enough. You must adopt the cloud native features with these platforms have to offer.- As a Product Owner it is important to have some understanding of what the team is doing technically.- As a Product Owner it is important to know what Amazon AWS (or Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Engine, ...) have to offer.
Project Manager
The initial intention was to manage Drupal implementation projects but I was quickly outsourced to De Persgroep. As I was already thinking about starting my own business for a long time this was the final push that I needed.
It Project Manager / Product Owner
Part of the Scrum team of which the main focus was business continuity of backend systems (payment processing, performance, PCI compliance, acquirer connectivity, ...). What did I learn here? - Every second counts when processing payments. - Compliance must be embraced and seen as an opportunity.- Monolithic software applications kill development speed. No matter how many developers you throw at it. Breaking up the monolith takes time.
Director Professional Services And Product
As the Professional Services team at Nomadesk became more & more successful the product roadmap started following the Professional Services roadmap. At this time it made sense to put both roadmaps under the same umbrella to ensure alignment. In practice most of my time was still spent managed rebranding and/or custom feature development projects. What did I learn here?- Fancy titles to open doors. - The true product roadmap should always be in the lead but if you are fighting to survive everything goes.
Project Manager
Managed rebranding and/or custom feature development projects for a variety of clients (Swift, RES Software, Novatel Wireless, SFR, DIRISI, Vlaams Parlement, Telenet, ...). Inception of the Professional Services team at Nomadesk. What did I learn here?- When developing software products the traditional project management methodologies fall short. Scrum is the way to go.- Combining fixed price contract and Scrum is quite a challenge.- Even if you are rewarded handsomely to develop custom features you should still say "no" when these features conflict with the mission & vision of your own product.
Application Engineer
Feature development in various technologies on all platforms supported by Nomadesk. Nomadesk is Business File Sharing & Synchronization software that allows your professional customers to edit, share, synchronize and secure files from anywhere – online and offline!C# .NET, VB .NET, Java, Cocoa, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, PHP, C, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Active Directory, Windows, Android, iOS, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Linux, Embedded, ApacheWhat did I learn here?- The sky is the limit as far as software engineering goes. Nothing is impossible.- If you absolutely need native development for key product features it will slow you down when expansion into new platforms is required.- It is better to focus on a few core product features instead of adding more on top.
Webdeveloper
Web developer, sysadmin & user support. What did I learn here?- Becoming better at what you do it easier when you have someone around with more experience.- Behind every politician there is a team of great people and it's these people who take the hardest hits when the votes go downhill.
