As an Ambassador for the College of Engineering I work to recruit students to come to Utah State for their engineering degree! I am on the Transfer team, which means that my focus is reaching out to junior colleges and colleges without some of the engineering degrees we have here at Utah State. I work with these colleges to provide information to students about engineering at Utah State! One of the things that my team plans is an Engineering Transfer Day, which is a day for potential and committed transfer students to come to Utah State and learn more about what our engineering program has to offer! I also hold office hours every week; during these office hours I give any potential student (both transfer and High School) tours of the College of Engineering. During these tours I show the students labs specific to what they are interested in studying and answer any questions they may have!

I work in Dr. Berke’s Mechanics and Extreme Temperatures Lab. My research is focused on refining how Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is used to take measurements of plates vibrating at high speeds. The hope is that DIC can replace the use to strain gauges, which have temperature limitations and take much time to apply. While DIC has several advantages compared to strain gauges, it still has its challenges. Because the testing assembly vibrates at high speeds and out-of-plane relative to the cameras, short exposure times are needed to avoid motion blur and small apertures are needed to improve depth of field, resulting in prohibitively darker images. Thus, exposure time and aperture must remain bright enough to allow for sufficient contrast without introducing too much measurement uncertainty as a result of blurring. My research is focused on how to balance the lighting to reduce the amount of blurring present in the images produced.

Working for USU Event Services my main responsibility was to provide crowd control and assist patrons during athletic events. Working as a supervisor, I helped to provide training to our 120 staff members and to help to supervise them during our major events.

The Dennis Group is a Food and Beverage Design Firm. They have been selected as the #1 Food and Beverage Design Firm in the U.S. four years running. I worked as an intern on the Mechanical Team based in Salt Lake City. In this position I helped to design HVAC and plumbing systems for various buildings; we both modeled in AutoCAD and Revit. I also created "Mechanical/Plumbing/Utility Quick Reference Handbook” and a “Drafting Handbook”; as well as create various spreadsheets to help streamline calculations.

Created Concept models in SolidWorks for various aircraft maintenance stands, work platforms, and carts. Worked to prepare material takeoffs, create proposals, and assemble pricing estimates.
