In my early years, I tried very hard to advance my professional career so I could live an extraordinary life. In order to achieve that, I told myself that I need to be different (ie think out of the box, solving old problem with new approach). A series of career mishap knocked me to the ground - to them I am not different, I am weird. I took a career break hoping I would find a deserving job but to no avail. The turning point came when I was reading a book titled “Giraffes Can’t Dance” (yes a children storybook) to my baby boy. The story line goes “...sometimes when you’re different you just need a different song”. It was at that moment, in mid 30s, I knew, I am just an ordinary-life people, yet I could follow my dream and make a difference. Every life has a purpose and everyone can live a purposeful life.
