I developed a highly requested internal API for the Amazon Halo app using React Native and Typescript. In the app, it was difficult to access cross-domain data (Sleep data on an Activity page, for example). My API, written in React Native and Typescript, solved this issue with an easy-to-use pattern, allowing developers from any team to access Activity and Sleep data. Working with my mentor as well as people who requested the app, we went through several iterations of the design, finally deciding on one with a pattern that only included important data but could easily be updated with new fields.After completing the feature with thorough documentation, tests, and metrics, I pushed it to production, where it is currently being used by developers at Amazon.

My first project at this internship was to update an internal error log parsing tool to work with a new file format. The source code had no comments and obscure variable names, which I managed to update and clean up for future SWEs. My second project was to develop a data logging system for proxy connections to an Outlook service. Using C# and MySQL, I updated the proxy code to log data (such as error types and connections per day) into a new table I created. This allowed customers to debug their Outlook connection problems better, as this feature had been requested due to problems with their Outlook clients.

In my first internship, I updated the error notification system for the Commvault software (in C++/MySQL) to support SMS notifications. This allowed users to receive critical notifications faster in the case of an emergency, and was a much-needed update to a legacy system.
