Long before my interests were labeled as such, I've been drawn to creative expression and storytelling. Fast forward, and I am building a career around graphic design and other modes of visual and written communication.Upon earning a B.F.A. in Visual Communications, I began my first design role with CAR-FRESHNER Corporation in Watertown, New York, where I spent an accumulative five years working alongside a team of seasoned designers. While there, I propelled my working knowledge of industry standard tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Now and again I had the opportunity to learn new skills such as product staging, photography, and 3D rendering. I also had the privilege of training with colleagues overseas.Expectations of high-quality work and brand consistency have fine-tuned my eye for detail and ultimately trained me to self-critique during all stages of the creative process. Over the years, I had the chance to attend many off-site press checks, which reinforced my belief that graphic design is equal parts creativity and technical knowledge.Shortly before the Covid-19 Pandemic, I relocated to Austin, Texas to pursue new opportunities. With the traditional landscape of "work" upended, I used this time to focus mainly on freelancing and updating my portfolio site. In late 2022, I accepted the role of Senior Designer with the Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, NY. Stepping into the non-profit sector has offered me a fresh perspective on how graphic design can be leveraged to tell stories, promote ideas and events, and convey the interconnectedness of a community. There is a humanity embedded in the work I do at the Rescue Mission, and I enjoy that very much.
