Throwing knives, playing marbles and picking watermelons. Shining shoes, having a paper route and started playing pool. Did quite well during my early years. Work before school and after at a grocery store, still playing pool and did alright. Joined the USANG for six years and became an 81mm mortar gunner and sometime M-60 tank mechanic. Worked Western Electric as an inspector of their phones a few years then joined the Merchant Marines. Worked on boats running up and down the Mississippi, across the Gulf of Mexico, up and down the west coast of the great USA and through the Panama Canal and around South America. Worked other jobs around Shreveport, La. during my times off like sheet medaling, steel working and other part time working. Then I got a job in Long Beach, Ca. where I have been for the last 45 years. Working on a barge fueling ships in the LB/LA harbors. Later worked in the Long Beach Naval Shipyard as a Boiler Maker, retired their and move with wife back east on Telodo Bend Lake with two giant Nation Forest on both sides. Heaven, right? Turns out my wife Linda is allergic to at least one mosquito. Made here look like she was in a fight. After a few weeks I went to work for the Union Pacific RR as a machine operator. I like this job. We replaced ties on almost every tract in Texas and Ark. I would drive home every weekend, sometime for a couple hundred miles one way. After a few years we decided to move back to Long Beach. We started having grandchildren. Now we have great grandchildren. Went to college LB city, for AS in electron control, robotic control and radio communications. Later I took almost two years nursing. I was not to be a nurse. Started blood pressure pills at this time. Jumping ahead, now I am trying my best to run a company. Sliding5gal Buckets llc. Not only does it work, but there are also no more back problems.
