To support my studies as an MA Art Psychotherapy student, I work in the SEND department; supporting our wonderful SEND students. I run interventions, and extra-curricular clubs, am a key worker and support in lessons. I also designed and remodelled our Compass room - a calm sensory space where our Neurodiverse students can find quiet and self-regulate.

I am an artist and work in many different mediums, although my degree covered life sculpture, 3D model making, casting and mould making. Most of my work is self-reflective and a response to the political, cultural, social and economical climate. I make hand-embroidered textile sculptures, love a bit of Lino printing, drawing and am starting to dabble with ceramics. Not too fussed, as long as I'm making something!

I completed my first placement as a trainee Art Psychotherapist at this specialist alternative therapeutic provision. I provided one-to-one art therapy sessions and art therapy group work to children and adolescents with SEMH needs, working within a multidisciplinary team. My practice and approach are inclusive, non-judgmental, nondiscriminatory and reflective. I maintain strict confidentiality, boundaries and effective record-keeping, in line with the HCPC standards of proficiency.

I took this position in a multicultural school to gain a thorough insight into an educational environment and obtain first-hand work experience with children and young people. Responsibilities included supporting pupils to access learning and working one-to-one. Provided technical support and safe and effective use of specialist equipment and materials. Supported teaching staff by researching planned curricular schemes of work and creating new learning resources for students. Worked with policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding; health and safety; security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns. Supported diversity and ensured all pupils had equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

Evolutionary Arts Hackney / EartH Kitchen. 11 – 17 Stoke Newington Road, N16 8BHI collaborated on the opening of a new restaurant space in the Arts Centre. I helped drive the project along to meet its opening deadline. Assisted on branding elements from design stage to final production. Sourced suitable art to fit the restaurant brand and design from a local gallery. Planned and executed light boxes and neon signage being made and permanent art installed.
