About Scott Mccallum

It’s been both satisfying and challenging to lead IT teams for quasi-judicial, public service agencies in Alberta for the past 15+ years, researching and evaluating technical solutions to best suit business and user needs. Leading a skilled team has been the most rewarding part of my work, supporting analysts and developers in a range of activities including technical architecture, risk mitigation, infrastructure design, application development, continuity planning, and customer service. While no two days are the same, my work and technical projects have focused on:IT Strategies >> Budgeting >> Lifecycle Planning >> Risk Management >> Network Analysis >> System Migration >> Platform Recommendation >> Infrastructure Expansion >> Training and Development >> Process Improvement >> Outage Avoidance >> Data Centre Planning >> Upgrades and Implementations >> Service EnhancementsUser-focused and cost-conscious, some of my greatest professional achievements have been the following:► Designed and built, as a team, IT infrastructure following creation of the Alberta Utilities Commission, creating and executing a migration plan for user accounts, mail boxes, file services, databases, and workstations to the new environment within one weekend.► Promoted customer service focused culture among IT team members, facilitating one-on-one meetings with staff members to understand user comfort levels with various systems and applications and recommending training as needed.► Researched and architected business continuity solution, recommending and implementing solution involving HP storage virtualization, Cisco, VMware, and Microsoft technologies to reach desired RPO and RTO.► Generated savings of 25% of original budget for data centre relocation, evaluating business requirements and recommending appropriate secondary data centre design.

Listed skills include Troubleshooting, Windows Server, Project Management, Technical Support, and 25 others.
