I chose to go to The University of Alabama, almost 500 miles away from my hometown of St. Louis because I was ready for a new challenge. I tend to thrive outside of my comfort zone, so I wanted something completely different than the Midwest. With that culture shock, came both challenge and opportunity. I made lifelong connections with friends and professors that I will forever be grateful for. But at the end of my time at Alabama, I found myself missing home sweet home.I moved back to St. Louis with no intention of staying and, instead, using it as a home base to save money and travel. The most impactful excursion was a backpacking trip through Europe in June 2017. I expanded my point of view and gained the ability to 'zoom out' - something my twenty-something self needed.Through mutual friends, I was set up for coffee with a woman who was looking to build her event sales management team. She was a young, energetic, and passionate woman and I connected with her on an immediate deep level. As we chatted, I fell in love with the idea of becoming more like her: an event professional in a close-knit market like St. Louis, and becoming an ambassador for a small, but growing, company that I could leave my mark on. I learned about influence, and the power it holds, during my time on her team. And, the spark that ignited my passion for this industry is something I will always aim to spread.Fast forward to March 2021, a year into the pandemic, I'm approached with an opportunity to pivot industries into the golf world - something I knew nothing about at the time. The energy I felt in my initial conversation about becoming the Sales Director over two clubs in Forest Park, the heart of St. Louis, reminded me of the informal conversation that began my career. I realized I hadn't pushed myself outside of my comfort zone in awhile and that realization alone was enough to take the risk and join a new team.
