His data-driven approach to strategic planning and continuous improvement has been commended by accreditors at several institutions and held up as an exemplar nationally.Scott’s scholarship on higher education finance, markets, and policy has shaped academic discourse, particularly during his seven-year tenure as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Higher Education, higher education's oldest and most distinguished journal. Scott is a past president of the Association for the Study of Higher Education, his field’s primary scholarly society.
