Leadership role overseeing two separate departments: Sustainability & Design ManagementOverseeing the Sustainability team, I work strategically to implement sustainability guidelines, set targets, and maximize tenant engagement. With my enthusiastic team, I define and refine design and construction sustainability criteria utilizing data from current green building rating systems, health research and chemical red lists; and sustainability best practices in energy, water, indoor environmental quality, and cradle-to-cradle product manufacturing, use, and disposal. I ensure that we work closely with design consultants, construction teams, and manufacturers to ensure product selection, procurement, and installation all meet established performance and sustainability criteria—not only to achieve outcomes on current building projects, but also to improve environmental standards and innovation in the industry at large. Our team keeps a vigilant eye on Durst’s chemical transparency and exclusion criteria for building products, continually demanding more, and better information from manufacturers.As head of the Design Management team, I am responsible for ensuring high quality documentation and execution of all new construction, capital improvements, and tenant projects. Design Management ensures consistency and high-quality services in the management of a project’s development from inception to operation. Working cross-functionally with the Project Development Marketing, Leasing, Engineering, Operations, and the Construction Departments, I develop strategies for implementing guidelines, technical reviews, and ensuring clear direction to consultants in order to meet aesthetic and high design quality outcomes.

Full-time role ensuring that Sustainability goals of ground-up development projects, existing building renovations, and building operations and management are met. Focused-efforts include developing strategies with Marketing, Leasing, Engineering, Operations, and Construction departments around sustainability guidelines, baseline goal setting, and tenant engagement to support company leadership and achievement around carbon reduction, health and wellness, and supply chain optimization.On-going efforts to test and utilize improved task management and project management approaches to apply learning from past projects and operational feedback into improved and informed decision-making. Served as project manager for a 72 unit (65,000sf conversion, 11,000sf new construction) multi-family project in Williamsburg; completed 100% CD set, DoB, MTA, CPC Permit Sets

As Director, I partnered with faculty to conceptualize and execute an academic research agenda based around materials, construction, and fabrication. During my 3 years in the position, I successfully managed a revolving staff of 8-10 students per semester, conducted and oversaw various research projects, re-conceptualized the Materials Lab as an incubator for Design Research conducted at the school, and achieved a few “firsts” for a UT employee in the Materials Lab Curator/Director position. These include:• applying for and receiving outside grants for a research project with regards to Sustainable Material Evaluation;• being invited to deliver a presentation at an international symposium on Materials Education;• given a lunchtime lecture to faculty + students at UTSoA;• designing, orchestrating, and curating a well-received exhibit in the school’s main exhibition gallery;• expanding the Materials Lab’s communication and outreach efforts to other departments on campus, and the local design community, by initiating a monthly e-newsletter as well as opening up the Materials Lab for an annual city-wide Studio Tour event;• being granted an Adjunct Faculty teaching position for Spring 2013 to teach and re-design a seminar course on Interior Environments
