Sharon Markley Schreiber has served as the executive director of the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) since January 2024. With MBRT’s experienced leadership team as support, Schreiber is well-positioned to influence Maryland’s workforce development and K-12 education initiatives into the next decade, including: implementing Blueprint for Education initiatives, exposing students to high demand career fields, providing work-based learning opportunities, and removing barriers of entry to college, apprenticeships, and other career readiness programs.“Maryland’s students and families deserve access to career visualization and workforce development tools early in their education journey, and businesses must have access to a future-ready workforce to thrive. Sharon Markley Schreiber is the chief operating officer of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) leading day-to-day operations in support of the organization's bold agenda and strategies. Between June and December 2022, Schreiber served as interim leader overseeing the GBC merger with the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB), where she was the former COO, bringing together the regional organizations to create a singular vision for how Baltimore will compete and thrive on regional, national, and global stages and the strategic role business will play. The merged organization, which now operates as the Greater Baltimore Committee, focuses on collaboration and equity in all of the Greater Baltimore region’s communities and enhances the marketing of the region’s dynamic assets.

As Chief Operating Officer for the now-merged regional economic development and marketing organization, Sharon oversaw day-to-day operations and focus on programming and support for regional marketing efforts. The Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB) existed to bring together business, government, education and non-profit leaders to market the Region’s economic development assets and opportunities. The EAGB Vision was for The Greater Baltimore Region to be recognized as a world-class market in which to do business, live, learn and invest. The vision continues within the work of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Sharon has provided strategic leadership to public and private stakeholders throughout her career, including the EAGB where she served previously as executive vice president from 2016-2017.

Sharon was director of education and innovation for the Maryland Department of Commerce leading outreach and collaboration with education and workforce leaders in support of business attraction and growth in the state. In her role, Sharon served as the chief subject matter expert on education programs, assets and capabilities as they relate to the Agency’s mission and economic development strategies. Key to her work was convening industry with education stakeholders to support access to talent and workforce training. Sharon also managed the $100M Maryland E-Nnovation Initiative Fund.

Sharon served as the Executive Vice President of the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore (EAGB) promoting regional economic development. Among various responsibilities in operations, grant reporting and event development and logistics, Sharon also led strategic initiatives including The Brookings Institution Global Cities FDI Initiative and the Advance Maryland Economic Gardening Program.

Previous roles combine over a decade of experience in the field of education. Sharon served as vice president for public affairs and strategy at Stevenson University leading strategic planning, innovation, government and community relations, and facilities design during a major period of growth and rebranding for the University. Prior to joining Stevenson, Sharon served as special assistant to the president at Notre Dame of Maryland University overseeing public affairs and board of trustees relations. Before NDMU, Sharon was with The International Dyslexia Association where she served as branch services manager for 47 branches in the United States and Canada. Additionally, she has served as human resources representative for Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson and director of human resources for Riparius Construction, Inc. Her earliest career work was in the field of residential interior design, buying and merchandising with Ethan Allen and Jarrettsville Furniture, Inc.
