Responsible for development of Tactical Communications and Information Systems architectures and solutions. I exploit and further develop in service equipment as well as help specify requirements for new capabilities. My day varies between briefings to senior officers and industry partners as well as rolling my sleeves up and developing code or ad-hoc network solutions.I lead a small team of experts who have a reputation for getting things done quickly and professionally. They have been allowed to be innovative and often we produce solutions that industry would charge several million pounds for.Working at Program level it is my job to spot opportunities and innovate solutions. I ensure coherence across numerous projects whilst developing new capabilities.

The MSc was designed to give a management approach to Information Systems and Technology. It is like an IT MBA and has been invaluable to my current position.As the course technical guru I relished the coding and practical elements. The management aspects were very enlightening and the methodologies and processes I learned have continued to be useful tools.

This course is designed to train the Army's middle to higher managers in a diverse set of topics.It includes tactical and strategic planning as well as acquisition training. The overview of Military history through to current grand strategic thinking gas given me an excellent overview of the Defence sector.

The role was to oversee and take part in detailed technical assessment and testing of new updates to the military's warehouse management system. The skills gathered in this under the bonnet testing allowed me to develop new concepts and save the MOD over £100,000 by in house development and assessment of new capabilities.This role really developed my SQL and unix skills.

I ran the Military port as Marchwood, Southampton. This involved liaison with shipping agents, ships Captains and movements personnel.The job also gave me responsibility for the running of the Regiment's (~650 people) main events. I took the opportunity to digitise the process which had previously been paper based. This allowed quicker planning and de-confliction as well as easy access to management information.
