The SMART project will look at the integration of physics-based models of district heating network, with real-time AI-based load prediction and MPC. The project will include models of next generation of solar buildings to be connected to the regional heat and power distribution system.The SMART project will expand the research group’s current expertise in the development of DHN and building control concepts. The SMART will help the group remain internationally recognized in the application of smart control for heating and cooling systems. The smart control concept in DHN by considering of prosumers will propel the group as a leader in the full-scale implementation front, since this has never been demonstrated before in large scale or real life condition. The project will have long term benefits to both the research and the education environment within the FEC, building fundamental science to bring in knowledge to the educational programs and expand the research profile. With SMART, we will bring together the knowledge from various ongoing projects, such as iREST, SmartFlow and DISTERHEAT.
