Two years working as an Assistant Language Teacher of the English language in Nagasaki, Japan. Complemented by cultural and recreational exploration of the countries of South East Asia.

A dynamic independent investment bank, MMB/MSMB was a market maker in the Foreign Exchange and Asset Trading markets of Jamaica’s financial sector in the mid-90's. I joined MMB/MSMB on the heels of a nationwide financial crisis, and was a member of the executive team challenged to transition the bank from its original loan provision services to investment banking services. The challenge was to provide an IT infrastructure to support the changing services, during a period of business process volatility, mergers & acquisitions and environmental instability.Accomplishments include: 1. Championed a BPR exercise resulting in the implementation of international, industry-standard system processes and a reduction in operational overheads.2. Led the implementation of Avaya Definity Enterprise Communication PBX System; resulted in a 50% decrease in operational overheads for call management and an increase in customer call throughput.3. Led the information systems merger exercise for Manufacturers Merchant Bank and Sigma Investments Ltd. in an on-time and on-budget project.4. Coordinated the development and implementation of Lotus Domino R4-6 workflow applications supporting Foreign Exchange and Asset Trading, Risk Management and Client Delivery/Portfolio Management services. This translated to savings in infrastructure costs during a 5-year period of environmental and business uncertainty.

In keeping with firm guidelines for group-ware infrastructure, my role was that of Systems Administrator with responsibility for:- Deployment of Lotus Notes/Domino in the Jamaican firm. - Coordination of the Lotus Notes/Domino communication infrastructure for linking the Jamaican, Cayman Islands and Bahamian firms with the Tampa Technology Center.
