In more than 20 years as a head of products, marketing, sales, and client services, I have learned much about developing and promoting products and companies, building relationships, and most importantly, solving problems. At the core of the entrepreneurial spirit lies the desire to solve problems, the ability to make decisions, the confidence to take chances, and the willingness to bear responsibility. I bring an entrepreneurial spirit to everything I do.Organizations require leaders, and leadership requires an understanding of human nature. People are motivated by a wide range of factors; recognizing and homing in on these factors is the way to produce dramatically improved results.

Global Product ManagerTick Data, A Subsidiary Of Onemarketdata Jul 2018 - PresentHoboken, Nj And Great Falls, VaIn July 2018 I was promoted to Global Product Manager of the Tick Data division. In this role, I am responsible for almost every aspect of Tick Data operations, including revenue objectives, product development, brand and product promotion, exchange and vendor reporting, and overseeing client services. I also assist our continued efforts to integrate the business unit's back-office processes with that of our parent company. -
Vice President, Products And MarketingTick Data, Llc, A Subsidiary Of Onemarketdata, Llc Nov 2015 - Jul 2018Hoboken, Nj And Great Falls, VaIn November 2015, Tick Data was acquired by OneMarketData, LLC (www.onetick.com), creator of the industry-leading OneTick database and analytics platform. OneTick was developed specifically for the financial industry, with an architecture tailor-made for high-frequency time series data. The acquisition of Tick Data was an ideal fit, and instantly gave OneMarketData superior financial market data content, expertise, and brand equity. I was retained post-acquisition to continue as head of Tick Data's Products and Marketing. I completely redesigned our company website, www.tickdata.com, and rewrote its content, which resulted in across-the-board improvements in website traffic metrics. As the website was my primary source of organic leads, I worked to maximize lead gen by running an SEO campaign that targeted specific search terms to increase and maintain our already high rankings on the major search engines. In order to gain maximum benefit from our CRM, Salesforce.com, I employed a number of third-party plugins and tools, including Gravity Forms, CloudAmp, Pardot, GetResponse, and HubSpot to capture leads, track and analyze visitor behavior, and automate responses and follow-ups. -
Vice President, Products And MarketingTick Data, Inc. May 2013 - Nov 2015Great Falls, VaIn early-2013, Tick Data was spun off to two long-time company executives. I was asked to return to Tick Data to run Products and Marketing and act as adviser to the owners and Board of Directors.Once back in private hands, Tick Data pushed to greatly expand our array of data delivery options. Our small, yet remarkably productive Engineering group developed a powerful web service (API) that allowed easy programmatic access to our data via simple HTTPS calls. In my role as Product Manager, I had multiple responsibilities on the project, working with Engineering (implementing features and functionality) and as part of the Executive team (pricing, road map, and long-term planning). In 2015, I led the development and deployment of a cloud-based version of our data management software used by thousands of Tick Data clients. Leveraging the API, the new web-based app's re-imagined user interface completely changed the way many Tick Data clients store and access data.

Vice President, MarketingNexa Technologies, Inc. Jan 2005 - May 2013Great Falls, VaCharged with creating and leading a new Marketing department, I became Nexa Technologies' first Vice President of Marketing. I established and executed annual marketing plans and budgets, which included public relations, ad campaigns (print and online), event marketing, web content, product development, and sales support. I developed and oversaw the development of all visual and written communications, including the company’s Brand Identity Guide, website copy, sales collateral materials, letterhead, tradeshow booths, etc. My efforts positioned Nexa's SaaS direct access trading platform, Meridian, as an industry-leading technology. In addition, I worked to build a more unified marketing effort between all of the Penson companies, which resulted in significant annual cost savings while greatly expanding media profiles of several business units.

PartnerTick Data, Inc. Aug 1999 - Jan 2005Great Falls, VaAs a partner, I ran the firm’s day-to-day operations, and my responsibilities expanded to include marketing, product management, and the overall client experience. I was also responsible for short- and long-term strategic planning and product development. I learned early on that exceptional customer service can turn the most unhappy customer into the most loyal customer. By actively responding to client feedback and by making every effort to fix problems as they arose, I distinguished us from the competition and significantly improved the quality of our products. As part of our sales and marketing effort, we distilled our marketing message to a simple build-vs-buy value proposition; what would take 1-2 man-years and additional IT expenditures to build, we could provide at a fraction of the cost in days.I further improved our product offering by designing client-facing tools that would make our data easier to use and more customizable, while we added new markets and asset types. After only a few years, the proportion of institutional clients we served increased significantly, as did the number of returning clients and data update subscribers. In early-2005, we sold the firm to Penson Worldwide, Inc. and became a division of their financial technology subsidiary, Nexa Technologies, Inc. -
Product Manager, Tick Data DivisionFutures Magazine Group Mar 1999 - Aug 1999Chicago, IlTick Data was founded in 1984 by a futures broker who identified a need in the futures industry: people were starting to use computers to trade, and they needed historical intraday market data to build automated trading models. In 1999, Tick Data was owned by Futures Magazine, and I was hired to manage the division. My duties included running the division’s day-to-day operations, managing sales and support, and further developing Tick Data's product offering.Within three months, Futures Magazine was acquired, and looked to spin Tick Data off as an independent company. A Washington, DC-based client expressed interest in acquiring the business. We shared a similar vision for what the company could be, and we both felt that advances in processing power, data storage, and communication technologies would all lead to significant growth in automated trading; Tick Data would be well-positioned to benefit. While negotiating the purchase, he made me an offer to move to DC and be his partner.
