Mike Convertino is an independent information security consultant and owner of Speck North Consulting, specializing in information security issues, particularly capital investments in information security companies. He was previously Resilience Insurance’s Chief Security Officer focused on strategies to provide accurate assessments of security posture for security and insurance professionals alike. He was Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Twitter where he was responsible for protecting the Twitter platform and improving the safety, data privacy and security of the conversations that take place on it through advanced methodologies including machine learning-based automation. Prior to that that he was VP & CTO of Security Products at F5 Networks where he drove invention of new core intellectual property for security products and prior to that, F5s first CISO. Before that he was an early employee at Crowdstrike, an innovative, cloud-based endpoint detection and response (EDR) product company which successfully went IPO and now has a market capitalization in excess of $46B. He created Falcon Overwatch (a managed detection and response offering) and later became CISO and VP for Information Security at Crowdstrike. Prior to Crowdstrike, he was Microsoft's Senior Director of Network Security, responsible for security automation development, intrusion detection, internal digital forensic investigations and company-wide. He is a highly decorated retired Air Force Colonel and was last assigned as Commander of the 318th Information Operations Group responsible for the development and employment of US Air Force information operations capabilities globally. He holds degrees in electrical engineering, information systems management and international security studies and has over 30 years of experience leading large IT operations and security organizations. His expertise ranges from agile software development to machine learning, building infrastructures on Cloud, Cloud security, cyber-security, intrusion detection and mitigation, risk analysis and forensics. He is an industry leader in the development of new security technologies and paradigms and holds a patent that offers a unique way to detect system intrusions.
