Sarah (Merkel) Goble is the athletic trainer at Sonoma Academy. Sarah works with all of Sonoma Academy’s athletic teams and student-athletes and looks forward to building out Sonoma Academy's Sports Medicine Program.Well respected by her peers and colleagues she is the incoming Secretary for the California Athletic Trainers' Association and previously served as the Chair for the Secondary School Committee for the California Athletic Trainers Association ('20-'24).Before joining Sonoma Academy, Sarah was the athletic trainer at Justin-Siena High School (Napa, CA) for 12 years. She was the first athletic trainer at Justin-Siena and was on the sidelines for several NCS and league championships. During her time as the school's athletic trainer, Justin-Siena was recognized as a NATA Safe Sports School every year since 2013. Sarah also taught the "Introduction to Sports Medicine" class on campus.Before joining Justin-Siena, Sarah spent 2 years as a Graduate Assistant at Academy of Art University covering Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and Baseball. She has also served as the athletic trainer for the Stanford Women’s Rowing teams as well as for the NBA Officials at Golden State Warriors home games. Sarah was an athlete herself, winning a Women's Basketball Division III National Championship in 2007 at DePauw University in Indiana. Sarah has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology - Athletic Training from DePauw, a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology - Athletic Training from San Jose State and is a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), and ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer (ITAT). Born in Evansville, IN Sarah Goble now resides in Windsor with her husband Jared, and their two children Emery and Grant.
