Our team is working to develop a core telecom product. I have joined to help grow the team and prepare it for a long-term journey in development of the complex, mission-critical telecommunication system.

I have advised teams at multiple companies on their software/product development processes and management challenges, and held training sessions.

I teach Agile Software Development to junior programmers. In the past, I have also taught Software Design Patterns and Computer Networking.

I acted as the Product Manager for a well-established enterprise software-based product. During this time, we launched a major new version with a completely new UI, much better UX and a slight rebrand (which I managed as we had a very small marketing function by then). I also influenced the team to focus more on the experience of our enterprise end-users, instead of simply developing more features or slashing the bug/tech debt. This focus on UX was a first-timer for the more-than-a-decade-old product, was informed by customer feedback and interviews and was still ongoing when I left the team.

I led a group of 9-23 engineers and product people who were developing, maintaining and managing a complex software-based product for enterprise customers. I also acted as the de facto product manager. The product was more than a decade old when I took over, was live in hundreds of instances and is still selling well.During my tenure, we managed to stabilize the source code (which was near 1 million LOC in early 2017!), reduce its size by at least 20%, lower the number of customer-reported bugs by more than 60% and quintuple the number of releases per year while doing large refactorings and adding new architecture-altering features.

At the Engineering Productivity group, we coached and facilitated software development teams to improve their software development processes, become better at teamwork and institute modern engineering practices like TDD. We also helped the managers see the root causes of their problems and think more clearly about the solutions. We drew inspiration from agile frameworks including Scrum, XP, Kanban and LeSS to implement lasting, effective change.

I was the lecturer in this undergrad course, which is typically taken by first- and second-year students. I held class sessions, designed and gave exams and assignments and graded them, and answered student questions. I got a lecturer evaluation mark of 3.4/4.
