Senior Aerospace Engineer - Ssai

Current

Hampton, Virginia, Us

I provide expertise to spacecraft and systems development programs as an on-site Contractor at NASA Langley Research Center. I work jointly with multidisciplinary teams to build aerospace systems that meet military and NASA standards.I hold accountability for conceptualization, proposal, design and development, procurement, fabrication, integrating, testing, qualification, and delivery of spacecraft systems. Notably, I:❖Led build-out of the Payload Adapter Separation System (PASS), including design, analysis, fabrication, development, and testing, as part of LOFTID (orbital hypersonic reentry flight experiment) that represented a unique, first-of-its-kind configuration.→ Planned and led qualification testing.→ The PASS system demonstrated consistent performance throughout testing, with correlation between predicted dynamic model performance and test results and performed flawlessly in flight. ❖Drove completion of the integrated LOFTID RV vibration testing.→ Requested by management to lead the testing effort, the last major testing milestone prior to shipment of the payload to Vandenburg Space Force Base (VSFB) for launch (due to early completion of PASS Lead tasks).❖Directed LOFTID to Launch Vehicle (LV) integration activities at VSFB. Coordinated with VSFB and United Launch Alliance (ULA) team members on operations planning, as well as coordinating procedure approval, logistics, travel, and others.→ Received positive recognitions regarding the smoothness of the execution and the cooperation among all 3 teams.❖Led RV LOFTID post-flight dispositioning and inspection efforts.❖Completed a series of successful prior projects, with distinction with an extremely broad range of flight project experience: Hardware System Lead Engineer (LOFTID), Systems Engineering (AA-2 as GSE Lead Systems Engineer), AI&T (Assembly Integration & Test) functional Lead (LOFTID), functional Operations Lead (LOFTID), and S&MA (Safety & Mission Assurance [SAGEIII on ISS]).

Plant Engineer

Alcoa Power & Propulsion, Hampton, Va

I held responsibility for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the design, development, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities. I managed the full cycle of multiple complex engineering projects within an environment with rapidly changing schedules, objectives, funding, requirements, and competing customer demands. Additionally, I served as the Facility Combustion Single Person of Accountability (SPA). Among my achievements:❖Led a team of up to 15 in the installation of 6 new Low-Temp caustic baths. Managed the schedule, budget, design, installation, testing, start-up, and validation activities.→ Generated ~$150K in savings in monthly operating costs, along with developing and implementing start-up, operating, and maintenance procedures and training programs.❖Directed up to 20 team members on the IGT Monoshell Expansion project, overseeing the schedule, budget, design, and installation activities, among others.→ Commended by senior management for successful completion of the project and doubling the plant’s maximum capacity over only a 3-week Christmas shutdown period.❖Oversaw the combustion system design, training, and compliance with NFPA 54, 85, and 86 as the ALCOA Howmet Combustion SPA.→ Achieved the successful completion of the first ALCOA combustion audit in several years, receiving praise from management for “exceptional documentation and planning.”
